Memphis Police Officer Shot at ‘Active Ongoing Scene’

A police officer was injured in a shooting that remains an active standoff in Frayser Wednesday, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).

Two people have been detained and an “active ongoing scene” is taking place with the suspect who is still inside the apartment in the 2800 block of Vayu Drive in the north side of Memphis.

MPD officers were serving an arrest warrant at 10:35 a.m. when the officers were fired upon from the back of the apartment after a resident opened the front door.

The injured officer was taken to Regional One Hospital in non-critical condition.

“Officers did not return fire,” the MPD said.
