Memphis Police Shoot, Kill Carjacker

DEVELOPING STORY: A carjacker is dead after he reportedly opened fire Friday afternoon on Memphis Police officers.

The shooting happened near Star Line Drive and Cimmaron.

Officers found a carjacked vehicle along with three male suspects. All three took off running, but one turned around and fired at police.

An officer fired back and struck the suspect. He was pronounced dead at Regional One Hospital.

“Play stupid games, win stupid prizes,” said KWAM host Todd Starnes. “It’s a terrible tragedy, but the police had no other choice. If the suspect had been a law-abiding citizen he would still be alive today.”

No police officers were injured.

The suspect who was shot is identified as Latoris A. Taylor, 40, of Memphis.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has taken the lead on investigating the incident.
