Memphis experienced an explosion in violence over Independence Day weekend.
Director of Police Services Michael Rallings of the Memphis Police Department confirmed that there were four homicides over the holiday weekend. In addition, KWAM was told that there were at least 26 incidents involving gunfire.BE SURE TO FOLLOW KWAM THE MIGHTY 990 ON FACEBOOK.
Memphis was included in a list of major cities with increased violence over the weekend. Chicago topped that list with at least 67 shot and 13 people killed. In New York City, the police reported at least 21 shootings.
With the status of police departments in question across the country, violence in major cities, especially those that are trying to defund police, is rising.
