Mid-South Pavilions Among Most Popular at Great American State Fair

Pavilions representing Mississippi, Arkansas and Tennessee have been receiving rave reviews from visitors at the Great American State Fair. And some have suggested our region’s exhibits are the post popular at the Freedom 250 celebration.
“As Tennesseans gather to celebrate Independence Day, we’re reminded that Tennessee’s story has always been intertwined with America’s story,” Gov. Bill Lee said in a statement. “From Mountain City to Memphis, Maria and I have seen firsthand that the Volunteer Spirit that shaped our history continues to thrive in communities across our state. I invite every Tennessean to reflect on our shared heritage and the values of faith, freedom, and service that continue to define our state and Nation.”
The governor boasted that “Tennessee is proudly participating in the Great American State Fair on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
Tennessee’s “The Original Frontier” pavilion will be open through July 10th and there is no charge to attend the fair. The pavilion includes interactive exhibits highlighting the state’s musical heritage, agricultural legacy, iconic brands, and the Volunteer Spirit that continues to shape America.
Andy Gipson, Mississippi’s Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce, has been providing Americans a daily video blog from the Great American State Fair.
Mississippi’s pavilion featured displays showcasing the state’s artists, writers and other iconic Mississippians, including Elvis Presley, Tennessee Williams, William Faulkner, Walter Peyton, Jim Henson and Dr. James Hardy. The displays also offered a picture area, where attendees can grab a photo with Elvis, Jimmie Rodgers and B.B. King.
