DEVELOPING STORY: The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for all of the KWAM listening audience starting at noon on Sunday. The storm warning will be in effect until Tuesday morning.

As much as a half foot of snow is expected to fall across the region. However, some areas could get even more snowfall.

The bigger issue will be the extreme cold temperatures. Forecasters say it could get as cold as 4 degrees by Tuesday.

The Hospitality Hub Warming Center is now open and will be operating under extended hours. The city has also opened a number of warming centers across the area:

Due to the extreme weather expected over the next few days, the Hub’s warming center for the unhoused community will be in operation 24 hours a day until Wednesday. Please note the details for this weekend’s amended services.

Opening Hours: Due to the changing weather conditions, we anticipate being open during the following times.

  • Women and families with children will stay at the Hospitality Hub (590 Washington Ave)
  • Single Men will stay at the Dave Wells Community Center (915 Chelsea Ave)
  • Transportation to both locations will be provided by MATA; requests can be made by calling 901-297-1680 during Warming Center hours
