DEVELOPING STORY: It may take multiple days until MLGW is able to restore power to customers in Shelby County. Nearly 120,000 customers are without power after severe storms passed through the region.
“MLGW crews will be doing damage assessment and identifying immediate actions to restore as many customers as we can as quickly as we can,” MLGW said in a statement. “In addition to our crews we have requested additional help from contract crews and expect that help to get here starting tomorrow.”MLGW says they have requested help from other power companies in the region.
“Customers should prepare for restoration to take multiple days,” they warned.
MLGW customers say they have reached the breaking point — angry that every time a storm blows through — the lights go out.“The city of Memphis has possibly the worst infrastructure in the United States of America. Pitiful,” said one customer.
