DEVELOPING STORY: A Nashville florist has refused to provide flowers to the Republican National Convention. The RNC is hosting a major fundraising event in Nashville this weekend.

Among the keynote speakers are former President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence.

he FLWR Shop wrote a letter to the RNC declining to provide floral arrangements because of the political party’s conservative beliefs.

“We immediately declined this ‘opportunity,’ and we want to take this moment to publicly clarify our stance as small business owners in Nashville, Tennessee,” they wrote.

The flower shop then called for other businesses in the Nashville-area to refuse working with Republicans.

“We would like to challenge others in the Nashville event industry to say no to taking money or jobs from the Republican party until they begin to make the changes to gun laws that most Americans are calling for,” they wrote.

The owner went on to say that they support protecting “black lives” and they have fought the “illness of racism.” The flower shop also defends transgender people.

“When I speak up it’s always to advocate for human rights,” the FLWR Shop owner wrote.

So here’s my take on this: I believe that business owners should have a right to decide who they choose to do business with. Whether it’s a Christian baker or a godless heathen flower shop owner.

And I also believe that Conservatives have a constitutional right and responsibility to buy their pansies someplace else.
