Deadly Mass Shooting at Nashville Christian School

DEVELOPING: At least three children and three adults were killed during an “active shooter” situation, as well as the female shooter, Monday at a Nashville-area Christian school, according to authorities.

The Metro Nashville Police Department said officers engaged and killed the shooter, an unidentified 28-year-old female, who had at least two “assault-style” rifles and a pistol, at The Covenant School.

A police officer was injured with a hand injury from cut glass, according to authorities. There are no other reported injuries.

“An active shooter event has taken place at Covenant School, Covenant Presbyterian Church, on Burton Hills Dr. The shooter was engaged by MNPD and is dead. Student reunification with parents is at Woodmont Baptist Church, 2100 Woodmont Blvd.,” the tweet read.

The Nashville Fire Department said there are “multiple” injuries.

“We are responding to an active aggressor at 33 Burton Hills Blvd Covenant School. We can confirm we have multiple patients,” the Nashville Fire Department said at 11:39 a.m. “Parents coming to the school should go to 20 Burton Hills at this time, this is an active scene.”

The private pre-K through sixth-grade Christian school is located in south Nashville.

“A reunification area has been established at 2100 Woodmont Blvd (Woodmont Baptist Church) for parents to meet their children who attend The Covenant School at 33 Burton Hills Blvd,” according to the fire department.
