Here’s everything you need to know going on in the Mid-South:
- It was a violent weekend in Memphis. At least 14 people were shot and 6 are dead. One of the victims injured even included a juvenile. So far this year there have been at least 76 people gunned down and killed.
- Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland announced he’s terminating the city’s contract with Waste Pro on Sunday. In the meantime, Team Waste will provide services to residents previously served by Waste Pro, which includes areas such as Cordova. The city gave Waste Pro 20 days to corrects its lack of services to customers, but they failed to do so.
- Memphis Police are searching for three suspects that they report broke into a business through a back door and stole $5,000 worth of cash and cigarettes Saturday morning. MPD reports it happened around 2:40 AM. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
