- Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland is promising to hire more police officers as the city is dealing with almost daily shootings. Strickland says he’s introducing a program called the Group Violence Intervention Program that he says will help with local crime.
- If you wanted to get your coronavirus vaccine today, the Pipkin Building in Memphis is offering doses without an appointment today from 7 AM until 7 PM. People that already had an appointment scheduled for today will be given priority.
- 30-year-old Reginald Palmer, Jr. was gunned down while sitting inside his own vehicle Monday morning. Shelby County Deputies report they found the victim dead on the scene near East Holmes around 3:30 AM. Monday evening 30-year-old Jeffery Boyle was arrested and charged with second degree murder, along with other charges.
- A man who is accused of firing shots into a group of local card players last year has been indicted with first-degree murder. Investigators report one man was shot but wasn’t the intended target, and the victim later died at the hospital. 32-year-old Derrick Conway is being held at the Shelby County Jail.
