Here’s everything we know going on in the Mid-South:
- A Memphis City Council committee voted unanimously to eliminate the city’s contract with Waste Pro after complaints of the lack of quality service. However, the decision is really up to Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland.
- The Shelby County School board has decided to shorten this year’s summer break to hopefully help make up for learning loss. This August students will start back Aug. 9, and the last day for the next school year will be May 29, 2022. The last day of school this year is June 16.
- A mass coronavirus vaccine site is officially opening today at the Pipkin Building in Memphis. The site had a soft opening yesterday to make sure everything would run smoothly for today. This is the first federally run site in the state, and only a handful are open across the country.
