Here’s everything you need to know going on in the Mid-South today:
- The federal coronavirus vaccination site at the Pipkin Building in Memphis is now offering the vaccine without an appointment from 5 pm to 8 pm with 500 reserved doses for walk-ins. This option will be available until Sunday.
- About two dozen people have been arrested following an interstate shooting in Mississippi. At least one person was shot in the incident Thursday afternoon. Among those arrested included Memphis rapper Big Boogie, and the group was reportedly on their way to a rap concert.
- Tenn. Gov. Bill Lee has officially signed a gun bill into law allowing carry without a permit in the state. This includes people 21 and older, as well as military members between 18 and 20 years old. The bill also includes tougher penalties for crimes that are gun-related, and this law will take effect July 1.
- Three juveniles were shot overnight in the Memphis area in three separate shootings just miles apart.
