Here’s everything you need to know going on in the Mid-South today:
- Governor Tate Reeves put 13 more counties under the mask mandate, bringing the number of counties up to a grand total of 54, including Desoto County.
- Shelby County authorities are investigating after a Cordova man reported someone had dropped off horse and deer carcasses near Shelby Farms Park. There were at least ten horses and at least 20 deer, the man told authorities. They’ve been removed from the area.
- West Memphis, Arkansas, is one of the few places in the Mid-South that didn’t cancel its Christmas parade. Now, there were a few modifications, such as parade workers didn’t pass out candy, and hot coco wasn’t sold. But, they still have 28 floats in the parade and celebrated as people watched from their vehicles.
- A Memphis family’s home caught fire around midnight last night near South Parkway. Thankfully the family made it out safely, but the cause of the first is still unknown.
- Tuesday, the Shelby County School Board officially extended the contract of superintendent Joris Ray at least until the beginning of 2025.
