Here’s everything you need to know going on in the Mid-South:
- Thanks to the severe winter weather we had last week that resulted in record amounts of snow, Memphis Light Gas and Water had to issue a boil water advisory, and that’s still in effect. That was the President and CEO of MLGW, J.T. Young. We’ve got all the details about the advisory here.
- With Memphians forced to have to boil their drinking water until this advisory is lifted, the City of Memphis passed out cases of free water this weekend on Lamar Avenue. Also all restaurants that use MLGW for their water supply have been forced to close unless they can adhere to the advisory.
- Garbage pickup is finally resuming starting today after being on delay thanks to last week’s snowstorm. The City suggests residents place their garbage bin at the curb and leave it there until it’s collected.

Coronavirus vaccinations are finally resuming in Shelby County after taking a long pause due to the winter weather. The Whitehaven vaccination center was reopened Saturday, and all other locations are opening back up today. If you had an appointment scheduled last week, it’ll be rescheduled to this week.
