News of the Day: Feb. 25, 2021

Here’s everything you need to know going on in the Mid-South:
- Memphis Light Gas and Water reports the water system is improving, but the boil water advisory is still in effect for customers. Groups are hosting water distribution events throughout the city as water bottles are scarce in local grocery stores. MLGW has fixed at least 98 of the 119 broken water mains so far. We spoke with MLGW on “Wake Up Memphis.”
- Memphis Police report a deceased woman was taken to their East Raines police station Wednesday afternoon after being shot by her boyfriend. 39-year-old Jonathan Turner was charged with her murder. Police report Turner parked his car at the station and told the officers he shot his girlfriend.
- The Tennessee Department of Health is keeping a close eye on the Shelby County health department as they conduct an investigation on their mishandling of the coronavirus vaccine. The Shelby County Health Department wasted over 2,000 coronavirus vaccine doses and are extremely behind in giving out the vaccine.
- Memphis Police report one person was shot and later died near Binghampton and Highland Heights Wednesday afternoon. The person was in critical condition at the scene and later died from his injuries. Police have detained one suspect.
