Here’s everything you need to know going on in the Mid-South:
- Tennessee Governor Bill Lee is pressuring all schools in Tennessee to return to the classroom by the end of next week. Shelby County Schools Superintendent Joris Ray talked to the media yesterday about returning to in person learning. Shelby County is the only school district in the entire state to still be completely online.
- Memphian Terrence Moorehead has been arrested after being accused of stealing 13 televisions from a train car. He’s been charged with theft of property and burglary. Police report a group of thieves hit the train at the same time on Thursday along EH Crump Boulevard and broke into ten boxcars.
- Thursday evening Memphis Police responded to a shooting off of Leacrest, where one male victim was located suffering gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and the suspects fled the scene in a Honda Accord.

Memphian Jasmine Mathes has been charged second-degree murder, two counts of criminal attempt second-degree murder and employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. Mathes is accused of shooting and killing her ex-girlfriend at her home in East Memphis earlier this week.

An ordinance to reduce all roadways to 25 miles per hour where a speed limit sign is not posted and for areas with a high pedestrian percentage will go into effect March 1, 2021, it was announced yesterday. This will mostly affect roadways in the downtown area.
