Here are the top things you need to know going on in the Mid-South:

  • Patric Ferguson, the former Memphis Police officer accused of murdering a man while on duty, has now pleaded not guilty. He was charged with first degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse. Ferguson initially confessed to the crime, but yesterday his attorney said he is pleading not guilty.

 

  • Sacarol White and Donavius Morgan  have been charged with theft of property of $60,000 – $250,000 after robbing an armored truck Wednesday. It happened in the Wolfchase Galleria parking lot off of Germantown Parkway. White was the guard present at the time of the robbery, and she confessed to speaking with two people on the phone before the crime that said they were going to rob the armored car.

 

  • Memphis firefighters were called to a house fire early this morning around 3:30 AM off of Ramona Street in North Memphis. Two adults and eight children were at the residence, but fortunately they got out with no injuries.

 

  • It was announced yesterday that a rainbow crosswalk with the words “Black Lives Matter” will be installed in Midtown Memphis at Cooper and Monroe.
