Here’s everything you need to know going on in the Mid-South:

  • 29-year-old Memphis Police officer Patric Ferguson was arrested Sunday and is now facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with and fabricating evidence. The victim, Robert Howard, went missing on January 6. A body that is believed to be Howard’s was discovered at Second Street and Wolf River bridge on Sunday.

 

  • A Tennessee man has arrested in Nashville because of his role in the storming of the US Capitol on Wednesday. The man, Eric Gavelek, is believed to be in photos posted at the Capitol with him carrying zip ties on a holster on his hip, and he had a cell phone mounted on his chest to likely record the day’s events.

 

 

  • With some snowy weather making an appearance across parts of the midsouth, many Mississippi schools in the are closing for the day or transitioning over to online learning. Some of those schools include Marshall County Schools and Tate County Schools, while the Tupelo School District is on a two hour delayed start. Check out school closings here.
