Here’s everything going on in the Mid-South:
- Starting today some Shelby County students will finally return to the classroom as parents were given the option to send their kids back to school. Teachers and students have been waiting for this day for almost a year since the pandemic started.

Memphis firefighters rescued a family from their North Memphis home after a tree fell on it early this morning around 3:30 AM. Thankfully no one was hurt, and the Red Cross is now helping the family find somewhere to live.
- Friday afternoon Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris announced that the Director of the Shelby County Health Department Alisa Haushalter has turned in her letter of resignation following the gross mishandling of the coronavirus vaccine. The local health department has wasted over 2000 doses and withheld an additional 30,000 of them.
- It was a violent weekend in the Memphis area with at least seven people shot and killed. This all happened started right after community members joined for a unity walk to end gun violence. No arrests have been made in connection to any of the shootings yet.
