News of the Day: March 10, 2021

Here’s everything you need to know going on in the Mid-South:
- The Tenn. Historical Commission voted Tuesday to move the Nathan Bedford Forrest bust from the Tenn. State Capitol. The controversy of the bust originates from Forrest being a Confederate general and the first Grand Wizard of the KKK.
- The Shelby County Health Department has named an interim director. Dr. LaSonya Harris Hall is currently deputy chief administrative officer for the county and has held several other leadership rolls. Hall has been approved by the state. She will serve 90 days and help look for a permanent replacement.
- Bullets flew in a North Memphis neighborhood and injured one person overnight near Jackson Avenue. Police found a house shot up along Orchi Road, and they also found a nearby car shot up at a nearby Mapco gas station.

Memphis Police are investigating 20 car break-ins at a FedEx Ground facility in South Memphis. Police say a group of four is responsible.

Memphis Police have identified the officer that was killed overnight in Whitehaven in a crash this week. 31-year-old Nicolas Blow was leaving the Raines Police Station when his car was hit around 10 pm. Blow is a father of two and has been a part of the force since 2018.
