Here’s everything you need to know going on in the Mid-South:

  • The Mid-South suffered a round of severe weather yesterday. A tornado watch was issued for parts of Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas. North Mississippi suffered hail and strong winds, while Shelby County dealt with flash flooding and gusty winds.

 

  • Memphis Police will honor one of their own later today. The department is having a Sea of Blue procession to honor officer Nicolas Blow, who was recently killed in a car accident while leaving the police station. The event will start at 7 pm and will begin at the Southland Mall and will head east on Shelby Drive.

 

  • A Memphis firefighter was taken to the hospital after a fire overnight that happened at a car repair shop near North Highland and Chelsea Avenue. The firefighter was treated for exhaustion after battling the flames, which erupted just after midnight. The business was burned to the ground. The cause of it is under investigation.

 

  • The Shelby County Health Department has released a new health directive that allows businesses to stay open until 1 am. In addition they don’t have to serve food with alcohol like previously and can do away with contract tracing systems. SOUND…That was Bosco’s owner Andrew Finestone. In the directive parties up to eight can sit together.
