Here’s everything you need to know going on in the Mid-South:

  • Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson announced Tuesday that he is lifting the statewide mask mandate, and that’s effective immediately. The Governor is still asking residents to respect mask requirements from individual businesses and venues. Also the governor announced that the coronavirus vaccine will be available to any residents 16 and older.

 

  • A couple saved over $350,000 over their lifetime, and it was stolen by someone they’d never expect. their own son. After Corey Baker started overseeing his parent’s bank account, he began living off of his parent’s savings, and within a few years, all of that saved money had disappeared.
  • Memphis Police report a woman has admitted to shooting and killing her boyfriend, after she first told authorities he died from suicide. The suspect, Stephanie Briggs, has been charged with second-degree murder and for making a false report. The shooting happened Thursday at an apartment off of South Mendenhall. Briggs reportedly shot the victim in the neck and back after getting into an argument.
