Here’s everything going on in the Mid-South:

  • Memphis Police responded to a call on South Advantage Way in Raleigh Monday evening, where they found a gunshot victim. The shooting victim was a young girl, and she was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Police say the suspect fled in a gray Infiniti, but no other information on this situation has been released yet.

 

  • Gov. Tate Reeves (MS-R) announced that his state is opting out of additional federal unemployment benefits that started during the coronavirus pandemic. This will take effect on June 12. Mississippi is joining South Carolina, Montana, Alabama and Arkansas in doing the same thing.

 

  • Late Monday evening, Memphis police also responded to a call that a female was walking on I-40 near Sycamore View, where she was hit by oncoming traffic. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and police have not yet released the reason the woman was walking around on the interstate.
