Here’s everything you need to know going on in the Mid-South today:
- Missed the big presidential debate last night in Nashville? ‘Wake Up Memphis’ has you covered with a star-studded show this morning.
- A pair of notorious local activists are behind bars. Hunter Demster and Quevonna Davis have been arrested for disorderly conduct and inciting a riot during Attorney General William Barr’s visit to Memphis. Police say Davis shoved a police officer towards the motorcade. Demster ordered his fellow protesters to surround the police officers.
- New state data has come out that traffic fatalities in the Memphis area are up 50 percent compared to last year with 245 already dead. 10 counties in west Tennessee are included in those numbers, and that’s an increase of more than 80 deaths from last year. We surpassed every metro area in Tennessee, including Nashville.
- Late last night there was a shooting on Cottonwood. A man was transported over to Methodist South, and police say the man was dead on arrival. So far there have been no arrests.
- A woman in Southaven has found six snakes in her apartment over the last two and a half days. She found them even in her tub, and she has three kids. She’s been asking the apartment complex to move her into another apartment or hotel.
