  • An armed motorist at the Kroger gas station on Poplar stopped and shot two would-be carjackers Monday afternoon. One is at the hospital and the other was killed.

 

  • A South Memphis gas station clerk has been charged with false imprisonment and aggravated assault after locking customers inside the store and attacking one of them wit ha meat tenderizer.

 

  • The University of Memphis has found a unique way to have a live mascot following the passing of Tom III. Tom IV will reside at the Memphis Zoo, and the school will set up a live webcam and website for viewing.

 

  • The Memphis Data Hub reports 214 homicides so far this year, with the previous record being 228. We’re not even to October yet.
