Police Chase, Shoot-Out Shuts Down I-240W During Morning Rush Hour

BULLETIN: Interstate 240 westbound has been shut down through much of morning rush hour following a police chase and a shoot-out near Lamar Avenue.
Memphis Police tell KWAM the chaos started just after 3:30 a.m. when they responded to a prowler in progress call on Eldorado Street.
Police spotted the getaway car and gave chase. That’s when someone in the back seat pointed a weapon at officers. During the pursuit officers deployed “stop sticks” and the vehicle came to a stop at I-240W near Lamar Ave.

“During the foot pursuit, one of the suspects turned and pointed a weapon at an officer,” Memphis Police told KWAM. “The officer gave verbal commands and discharged his weapon. The suspect continued to flee.”
One suspect was taken into custody in the 1800 block of Robinhood Lane. No injuries have been reported at this time.
“Officers have determined that the vehicle was stolen and have recovered a weapon,” police said.
A male suspect in all-black clothing still has not been located at this time. Call 901-528-CASH w/tips.
