Police Say Christian School Killer Is Transgender

The Nashville Christian school shooter was a 28-year-old woman who identified as “transgender,” according to police.

Audrey Hale, a former student at The Covenant School, had a map and a detailed manifesto to attack the private Christian academy,

“We have a manifesto, we have some writings that we’re going over that pertain to this day,” Nashville police chief John Drake said about the discovery.

Asked specifically if Hale’s identity could have factored into the killer’s motive, Drake said: “There is some theory to that, we’re investigating all the leads.”

Hale allegedly entered the school by shooting through a door and then killed three adults and three children Monday morning before being gunned down by police.

While inside, Hale killed Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all age 9, as well as custodian Mike Hill and substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, both 61, and school head Katherine Koonce, 60.

Hale reportedly identified as “he/him” on LinkedIn.
