Tim Van Horn sat down for an in-studio chat with Memphis Americans Co-Owner & President Andrew Haines on “Wake Up Memphis” Tuesday morning.  The franchise is the first in the new National Indoor Soccer League, featuring men’s and women’s teams in each of the league’s cities.

The Americans will play all home games at the Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi.  Matches are expected to begin in late December.  Haines said the men’s and women’s teams will both play each game night, and one ticket will give fan’s entry to both games.  Haines also talked about the corporate partnerships the club and league already have in place.

If the team name sounds familiar, it’s because it is a throwback to the club that operated in Memphis in the 80s.  Haines talked out how players and staff from the original team have reacted to the formation of this new version.

While recruiting efforts are well underway to field a top-level team, Haines revealed open tryouts for both teams will be held in early August.
