Protesters Shut Down I-55 Bridge
Protesters shut down both sides of traffic on the I-55 bridge Friday after the city of Memphis released redacted video footage of police officers beating Tyre Nichols.
“They’re taking our lives. We’re taking their money,” protesters chanted in one clip.
“Say his name. Tyre Nichols,” they said in another chant.
The Memphis Police Department issued a traffic alert for the following areas:
- I-55 North/Riverside Drive
- I-55 Memphis-Arkansas Bridge
- East E.H. Crump Boulevard/South Third Street
- Florida Street/North Parkway
