Michael Pugh of Pugh’s Flowers told “Wake Up Memphis” with Ben Deeter that Valentine’s Day is their busiest day of the year.

“A typical day is 100 to 150 deliveries. Today, we’ll do about 2,000,” Pugh told KWAM.

Michael’s dad started in the florist business in 1976, and after his passing, his sons started Pugh’s Flowers in his footsteps. The legacy of Pugh’s Flowers continues now with four locations across Memphis, and they employ roughly 175 workers.

Although classic red roses are the usual hit this year, Pugh shared that lavender roses have been a surprise frontrunner this season.

“Normally, that’s not a big seller, and this year we sold out of the purple lavender roses three days ago,” he said.
