Now that President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R) have come up with a deal to present Congress and avoid a default on paying the nation’s bills, both now trying to get their parties on board. However, a number of Republicans have already voiced that they’re refusing to go along with the proposed deal.

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) told KWAM’s “Wake Up Memphis” Tuesday he’s a “no” vote on the debt limit deal because it doesn’t cut enough spending.

“It needs to cut more,” he told KWAM.

Burchett also criticized the House Freedom Caucus for not asking enough in the initial negotiations.

“I was like guys, you’d better ask for a lot more than you want because in negotiations you’re going to give something,” he had advised.

Burchett had warned weeks ago about the looming deal ceiling, but now Republicans are faced with a vote Wednesday on McCarthy’s new deal.

“Shut it down, that’s all they understand,” Burchett said, “and we wouldn’t be in this position, but nobody listens, and that’s where we’re at.”
