Tennessee House of Representatives Republican candidate for District 96 Patricia Possel tells ‘Wake Up Memphis’ with Robyn Walensky people’s “basic needs are not being met” with inadequate garbage pickup in Cordova.

“A portion of my platform revolves around putting enough pressure on state and local government to come out and pick up our garbage, I pay my trash pickup bill every month,” she tells ‘Wake Up Memphis.’

If Cordova doesn’t clean up its act soon (pun intended), then the state might have to interfere.

“The state can actually come in and take over garbage collection if the city doesn’t step up,” Possel tells Walensky.

Since 2015, Possel has been keeping track of the pickup schedule and says she has plenty of pictures to back up what is going on.

“It’s actually pretty sad,” Possel says, “I started keeping stats for South Cordova since 2015, in 2018 for our whole area collectively, which is approximately 2,000 homes, the trash got picked up one time in the 52 weeks of the year.”

Possel, a Republican, is running against Incumbent Democrat Dwayne Thompson.
