You won’t find Spider-Man or Darth Vader in the lunch line at many schools across the nation today. That’s because Halloween has been banned for the sake of inclusivity.

“All of us realize that this breaks with what the district has usually done, and that can be a difficult thing to do sometimes,” Dr. Kevin Gilbert, the assistant superintendent of access and equity in South Orange, New Jersey, said in a statement.

The districts sent a letter to parents explaining that the beloved tradition of dressing up like Snow White or a Power Ranger was being cancelled in an effort to promote “diversity, equity and inclusion.”

Governor Blasts Halloween Ban

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, a Democrat, thought the decision was more of a trick, not a treat.

“Seriously? We can’t let kids celebrate Halloween? Give me a break,” the governor wrote on Twitter.

It’s part of a trend across the nation to appease minority religions and ethnicities that may not celebrate Halloween.

Radio station KTTH reports that several schools in the Seattle area banned the ghosts and goblins.

“We do not celebrate Halloween at B.F. Day. Please send your child in play clothes, no costumes,” Benjamin Franklin Day Elementary School wrote to parents.

The school actually lists Oct. 31 on the calendar as “No Halloween celebration.”

In Northboro, Mass. parents staged a rebellion after the district cancelled the longtime Halloween parade – again to align with their equity and inclusion policies.

“I understand that the Halloween parade was a wonderful memory-making experience for many students and families,” Supt. Gregory Martineau said at a School Committee meeting. “However, this is not the case for many students.”

About 88 percent of the student body participated in last year’s celebration, according to the Boston Herald.

“Frankly, this is just insulting,” parent Edward Reiss told the newspaper. “And it smacks of a decision that the administration knew was going to be unpopular and just pushed it through by any means they could because that’s what they wanted. … I am worried about what precedent this sets.”

As I wrote in my book, “Culture Jihad: How to Stop the Left From Killing a Nation,” there is an assault on our nation’s beloved traditions and celebrations. First, the Left is banning trick-or-treating and the next thing you know they’re banning Candy Canes and Valentine’s Day.

Although, I would not object to a federal ban on those pale, orange, marshmallow Circus peanuts. Definitely a trick, not a treat. Click here to read my book!
