Shelby County Commissioner Mick Wright called on County Clerk Wanda Halbert to resign after its Poplar Plaza branch is closing.
Wright told KWAM Tuesday Halbert had failed to pay rent for several months, causing the landlord to evict the clerk and her employees.
Halbert released the following statement:“It is with deep regret we are relocating employees from the Midtown location at 3412 Plaza Drive. We have extended our stay and reassigned current employees to other locations.”
