Four schools will be given 5.5 million dollars to make their campuses a safer place for children to learn:

  • Frayser Achievement Elementary School
  • Corning Achievement Elementary School
  • Georgian Hills Achievement Elementary School
  • Whitney Achievement Elementary School

Board members said these four schools were picked first because they were most in need of basic security measures so they were the priority. However, they also said this is just the beginning and they aim to improve more schools in the district.

The measures taken will be surveillance cameras and alarm systems to ensure doors remain locked at all times. Other upgrades will include licenses, control equipment, communication systems and servers.
