President Donald Trump approved disaster assistance for the Volunteer State after severe storms killed 5 people in West Tennessee Wednesday night.
Gov. Bill Lee sought a state of emergency declaration in response to the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that ripped across the state late Wednesday.
“Specifically, FEMA is authorized to identify, mobilize and provide, at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency. Emergency protective measures, limited to direct federal assistance, under the public assistance program, will be provided at 75% federal funding,” according a Department of Human Services (DHS) official.
The assistance applies to all 95 counties,
