“It was extremely pornographic,” Tambre Wells told Ben Deeter and Todd Starnes exclusively on “Wake Up Memphis,” the morning show on KWAM News Talk Memphis.

The DeSoto County mom explained her 14-year-old niece, whom she is raising, was “uncomfortable” with the homework assignment and immediately showed her the graphic material.

The sexual content discussed in the book included masturbation, and she posted a portion of it on Facebook:

Wells told Deeter and Starnes that the school did a tremendous job in addressing the issue, noting they “reacted exactly how I would’ve wanted them to.”

Apparently, the teacher who had independently assigned these readings had done it without permission of the school and was promptly fired once it was brought to the administration’s attention.

“The support has been overwhelming,” she said.

Starnes said it’s a story about a lot of good people doing the right thing.

“Tambree’s niece did the right thing by alerting her mom. Tambree did the right thing by alerting the school district. And the school district did the right thing by giving that rogue teacher the heave-ho,” Starnes said. “I like a story with a happy ending. The lesson here, America is to be diligent.”
