The overturning of Roe vs Wade has been met with expected negative reactions. Make no mistake that there will be protests and nights of rage this weekend. Already, there has been no shortage of tweets highlighting how evil America is and its hatred of women’s rights.

Even many of our local city leaders like Shelby County Commissioner Tami Sawyer is using the latest decision to overturn as yet another reason why America and its institutions are wrong.

Shelby County District Attorney candidate released his official statement bashing current District Attorney Amy Weirich and noting that this is a sad day.

“This is a sad day.  The politicized right-wing Court goes out of its way to overturn half a century of precedent, with women as the victims. As District Attorney, I’ll be very different from Amy Weirich.

“Weirich’s party and Donald Trump want her to turn her attention away from prosecuting violent crime and prosecute women and their doctors.  We need to be focusing on carjackings, murders, domestic violence–not jailing doctors helping women make reproductive choices.”

Democrats in Tennessee are already calling this a direct assault to Tennesseans rights. They tweeted out their full press release shortly after the overturning.

A State Senator for the Volunteer State details how dumbfounded she is that in 30 days, abortion will illegal in Tennessee.

State Representative Gloria Johnson she is ready to fight back against women not having equal rights.
