On this day in 1944, Allied forces launched their historic D-Day invasion. Today, we honor the courage of the soldiers who stormed the beaches in Normandy marking a turning point in WWII. #NeverForget pic.twitter.com/y4RxWi89xu

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Rep. Mark Green (R-TN) were actually in Normandy for the anniversary:
While in Germany, the 101st Airborne Division uncovered the Kaufering IV concentration camp and also captured The Eagles Nest, Hitler’s mountain retreat.
I had the pleasure of meeting several 101st active duty Airborne soldiers in Normandy to thank them for their service. pic.twitter.com/tuB9t9hl9B

Today, I’m in Normandy, France, to honor the American lives lost in the D-Day landing and the Tennesseans who fought against the Nazis.
May we never forget the ultimate sacrifice these brave soldiers made while defending freedom around the world. pic.twitter.com/NoVOP6TQZP

Throughout history, most countries that invade another nation have kept the land. The United States has only ever asked for a place to bury our fallen. Thank you to France for giving us this land to honor America’s sons and daughters. #DDay pic.twitter.com/Iyd5yNfhNW
