Tennessee lawmakers could ban drag shows from being performed in front of children if a bill that was presented Tuesday goes into law.

Tennessee’s Republican Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson presented the bill that would make it a first offense for doing a drag show in public.The bill classifies these types of performances as go-go dancers and strippers. A second offense would result in up to six years in prison and $3,000 in fines.Senate Bill 3’s purpose is clear: protect our children.
