TERROR IN LAKELAND: Woman Murdered, Car Thieves Hit Suburbs

DEVELOPING STORY: There is growing fear and outrage in the Memphis suburbs as gangs of thugs are terrorizing communities like Lakeland.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office says a 54-year-old woman was shot and killed on Breezy Shore Cove. They did not provide any details, but a spokesman said it is not believed to be connected to the carjacking.

Detectives are also searching for “multiple suspects responsible for a rash of thefts from motor vehicles.” They are also searching for a carjacker.

“These are active investigations and SCSO seeks the public’s assistance in helping to solve these crimes,” the sheriff’s department said.

“Memphis is out of control,” one concerned resident told KWAM News. “Loaded pistol on nightstand and a shotgun within arms reach.”

One resident, who will be a guest on KWAM at 7:05 a.m., said he nearly became a victim of the carjackers on Bramblebush Lane. He said a group of thugs blocked the road.

“I backed up slowly, the pursued me,” the man told KWAM. “I stepped on it, trying to get the hell out of there. I got to Highway 64 and dialed 911.”

“Let’s just say this could have spiraled into a very bad day very quickly. I ended up losing a mirror as I clipped a mailbox,” the man said. “Tell your family to be careful. Situational awareness is key.”
