There are MAJOR concerns concerning an attempt by some Tennessee General Assembly Republicans (at least two locally) to create an Interstate Compact among Mid-South states.   The entities would be known as the RegionSmart Development District and the RegionSmart Development Agency of the Greater Memphis Region. Political analyst Steve Gill joined “Wake Up Memphis” this morning to discuss House Bill 1989.

One of the problems? It would create another woke, unelected layer of governing.  RegionSmart previously held a “21 Day Equitable Development Challenge,” which included an “Implicit Bias Test.”  This in the same state whose General Assembly banned Critical Race Theory in classrooms just last year!

Shortly after the segment aired on KWAM, the webpage touting the three-week indoctrination suddenly disappeared.

Don’t worry, we have the proof of the course’s existence, and we will share it Friday morning on “Wake Up Memphis.”

Additionally, the bill (if passed in current form) would grant eminent domain authority to this newly created entity.

Listen to the entire conversation below, including Gill’s update on a residency requirement bill pertaining specifically to Congressional races in Tennessee.
