TN Speaker Sexton Rips District Attorney Mulroy For Being Soft On Crime

District Attorney Steve Mulroy is trying to make it easier for criminals to get back out in the streets, Speaker of the House in the Tennessee House of Representatives Cameron Sexton told “Wake Up Memphis” Thursday.

Sexton made his frustrations clear regarding the out-of-control crime in Memphis and how the Democrat leaders of the city have not had a strong presence standing against it.

“He’s been silent for months,” he said. “He talks a good game but at the end of the day he’s going to incorporate the same policies from San Francisco and Chicago into Memphis.”

He added there is no real consequence of committing crimes anymore in Memphis and that Mulroy needs to step up before they lock in on him.

“I think you see everything going on in crime and I don’t think the community feels safer,” he said. ” There is no deterrent, he’s soft … If we have to remove Mulroy from office for dereliction of duty, that’s what we’ll do.”
