University of Memphis Honors Eliza Fletcher With New Soccer Stadium

The University of Memphis announced plans to build a new soccer and track stadium that would honor the late Eliza Fletcher.

Fletcher was out on a morning run in September 2022, and she was kidnapped and killed.

In Friday’s edition of “Wake Up Memphis,” the University of Memphis women’s soccer coach Brooks Monaghan joined to talk about Eliza Fletcher’s impact on the program as a player herself, as well as the plans for the new stadium.

“Eliza was not the most talented soccer player,” Monaghan said, “but she had a great mentality, and also was a fantastic teammate.”
