Unmasked Germantown Students Punished; Parents Enraged

A group of outraged parents are speaking out over Germantown Municipal School District’s treatment of their unmasked children.

Germantown board members met Wednesday evening to vote on whether to keep or end its current mask mandate. The board voted unanimously to ‘strongly recommend’ students wear masks, but they ended the requirement.

It wasn’t just board members who showed up, so did parents — angry parents.

Some parents held signs that read ‘100 % Parental Choice,’ while others went before local media accusing the district of separating children who complied with masking and those who didn’t.

Parent after parent called into Wake Up Memphis Thursday morning with their account of GMSD’s discrimination of students who wouldn’t wear a mask or wore one improperly.
