VIDEO: Tim Van Horn Talks Pain, Blessings In Rehab Update

Today marks one week since I had total hip replacement surgery.  That sharp pain- and the root cause of the pain- have been literally removed from my body.

REHAB AND CHILL

It’s been a good week mixed with ups and downs along the way.  Each rehab session has brought new challenges and physical boundaries to test.

Things are going well with my Physical Therapists.  I was tasked with doing very limited-motion squats, and sets of calf raises.  I can’t lie, though.  The thought of not standing completely upright scared me.

There’s been more muscle pain and general soreness the last few days.  The PT told me my gait had been altered by the hip problem. I walked in a way to minimize pain. Thanks to this week’s exercises, I’m properly using muscles that have been misused or dormant for nearly a year.  I’m icing my hip nearly as much as I did immediately after surgery.

ON A SCHEDULE (NOT REALLY)

I think I am sleeping more now.  The naps are still coming at least twice a day.  The difference is at night- I am sleeping longer with waking up.

In between naps and exercise, I have been watching documentaries, reruns of MacGyver & Andy Griffith, and old wrestling shows from the 80s.  I keep up with the headlines by listening to The Mighty 990 and doing a bit of reading.

I’ve had a few visitors pop by.  My pal Dustin Starr dropped off some SWEET t-shirts.  I will definitely model one or two next week!

Also, sometimes I’ve just sat or reclined in silence.  I’m thankful for my wife, kid, family, friends, all of you.  Here’s a quick message as we head into the weekend.

Thank you for your continued support!
