At least nine people were shot and six were killed after a violent weekend across Memphis.
More than 300 people have been gunned down in the streets of Memphis since the first of the year and the violence is only getting worse.
The Memphis City Council has refused to consider any plans to hire more police officers even though the police department is severely understaffed. Instead, city leaders say the answer to the violence is to build more community centers and basketball courts.Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
At approx. 8:15 p.m., officers responded to 1300 Wesley Dr: @ Methodist South regarded two shooting victims who arrived at the hospital by prvt. vehicle. One victim was pronounced deceased. One victim is in non-critical condition. There is no suspect information available.

At approximately 5 pm, officers responded to a shooting at 4062 Jackson Ave. Officers located two victims. One victim was pronounced deceased. The second victim was transported to ROH in non-critical condition. There is no suspect information available at this point.
