The mayor of West Memphis, Arkansas had a rather blunt message for citizens who are violating the city’s curfew: “stay your ass at home.”
Mayor Marco McLendon urged citizens to follow the CDC’s coronavirus guidelines as well as the city’s 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. curfew.

We are going to enforce the law with our curfews.
He told citizens to stay off the streets.
“Help me help you,” he said. ‘This curfew is not for me. It’s for you and your family.”
Last week, Mayor McClendon lectured residents who were not following social distancing guidelines.“If they say this thing is going to peak at the end of the month, I don’t want to start doing what we’re doing at the end of the month,” McClendon said. “I definitely want to be proactive and make sure we’re doing everything we can do to make sure Crittenden County is safe…”
McClendon called out people who are still gathering after local and state governments recommended people to practice social distancing.
“No more barbecues right now, no more lollygagging, meeting up at carwashes or whatever you may be. Right now, it’s time to call those loved ones on the phone, make sure they’re doing alright…”The mayor was also upset with local churches that were still holding services.
“Conducting these services is reckless and irresponsible,” he said.
