WMC reporter: “What if the country is reopened and more people die? Is that what you want?”

A tiny crowd of protesters calling on the governor to reopen the state turned out in downtown Memphis for the “Free Tennessee” rally.

There were more police officers and news reporters than there were protesters. And one counter-protester heckled the freedom-fighters who who gathered near City Hall.

But the most interesting part of the small demonstration was a reporter for the WMC, the local NBC television affiliate, who engaged in a running argument with two of the protesters.

“What if the country is reopened and more people die? Is that what you want,” the NBC-affiliate reporter asked. Watch below:

One of the protesters pointed out that the reporter “would rather argue than report the news.”

The reporter replied that he was just trying to have a “discussion.”
