BLOODY MEMPHIS: 8 Shot, 5 Killed in Weekend Violence

At least eight people have been shot and five people killed in weekend violence across Memphis. Four of the shootings happened within a four hour span of time.

“When are the people of Memphis going to wake up and realize that the city council and the mayor’s office have turned the city into a war zone,” one angry KWAM NewsTalk Memphis listener asked. “We can’t even let our kids play safely in the parks. And all the city council wants to do is rename streets after Black Lives Matter.”

In recent days the far-left city council drew national headlines when Councilmen J.B. Smiley and Martavius Jones urged lawmakers to deny a security detail during an upcoming visit from President Donald Trump.

“Hell, they won’t even protect the citizens of Memphis,” said another KWAM listener.

Last night around 11 p.m. officers responded to 1418 Silver Street in reference to a shooting. Officers located two victims on the scene suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to Regional One Hospital, where one victim was pronounced deceased, and one was in critical condition.

About a half hour later, officers responded to 2034 S. Lauderdale Street and found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One female was transported to Regional One, where she was pronounced deceased. The male victim is in critical condition.

Police also confirmed a shooting happened after 1 a.m. downtown in the area of BB King and Peabody Place. One person was shot and taken to the hospital in non-critical condition. Click here for more information on that attack.

At 1:31 am, Officers responded to a fourth shooting at 766 Jackson Avenue. Officers located one male victim suffering a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.
